A 43 years old resident of Maradana, was taken into custody along with the illegal foreign cigarette near the Port City gate.
A joint search operation conducted by the Navy and the Colombo Central Divisional Crime Detective Bureau near port city’s gate today (July 6,2024) led to the arrest of this suspect with approximately 3,000 foreign Cigarettes.
The suspect was taken into custody and handed over to the Fort Police for further legal proceedings along with the stock of illegal foreign cigarettes.
The operation was coordinated and led by Sri Lanka Navy Ship Rangalla (SLNS Rangalla) belonging to the Western Naval Command and the Central Colombo Divisional Crime Detective Bureau. During this search, the authorities found a suspicious person and during the subsequent searches, they revealed the stock of cigarettes intended to be sold.
