An Immigration officer who made a wrong data entry that prevented former minister – Mahindananda Aluthgamage, leaving the country has been interdicted from service, the Department of Immigration said.
Mr Aluthgamage was prevented leaving the country as the system showed that he faces an overseas travel ban imposed by the Mathugama courts.
Inquiries have showed that that the officer had entered details of another case under Mr Aluthgamage’s passport number.
A further inquiry is underway.
