A group of women's activists from the 'Nidahasa Udesa Kanthawo' (Free Women) organisation held a protest opposite the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment office in Battaramulla this morning demanding that the government protect female migrant workers working overseas.
The activists noted that female migrant workers were undergoing extreme hardships in many countries, particularly in the Middle East and were also being subjected to sexual exploitation.
