An automated Facial Recognition Unit was established at the Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday (6) to enable law enforcement authorities to identify those suspected of involvement in criminal activity. The unit was declared open by Public Security Minister Tiran Alles and Acting Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon. The Facial Recognition System will be operated jointly by the Criminal Investigation Department and the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
