The foundation stone for the proposed Air Force Hospital was laid today (27) during a ceremony held under the patronage of Defence Secretary General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne. Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana was also in attendance.
The 12 storey hospital is being constructed at a plot of land in Kirimandala Mawatha, Narahenpita that was allocated to the SLAF on the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The hospital will be built by SLAF personnel and the first stage of the hospital, comprising five storeys, is due to be completed in three years.
Once completed, the new hospital complex will be able to treat 200 resident patients at a given time. Aside from SLAF personnel, the hospital will also treat retired Air Force personnel as well as family members of SLAF personnel who had lost their lives during the war.
