In Pictures: Hindus celebrate Maha Shivaratri
Hindus in Sri Lanka and throughout the world celebrated Maha Shivaratri festival yesterday (1). The annual festival is held in honour of Lord Shiva.
The celebration marks a remembrance of overcoming darkness and ignorance in one's life and the world.
These images of Hindu devotees marking the festival yesterday are from the Shri Ponnambalawaneswaram Kovil in Kochchikade. Newly appointed US Ambassador Julie Chung was also in attendance.
