Language is one of the most evident and fundamental features of humanity's facilities. It is the most effective tool for maintaining and developing our tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

International Mother Language Day, a commemorative event to promote awareness of Linguistic diversity and cultural diversity held today at Independence Square under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena.

The event was organized by the High Commission of Bangladesh and the Ministry of Education on the theme of “Mother, Mother Language, Motherland.”
