The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) held a protest in Ambalantota town yesterday over the recent fuel price hike.
The protesters, numbering over 100, pushed vehicles such as motorcycles and even trucks a distance of more than a 1km to Ambalantota town to show their displeasure at the fuel hike. They called upon the Government to immediately reduce fuel prices.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
