The All Ceylon Nurses' Union held a protest today in front of the National Hospital in Colombo demanding that health authorities reintroduce the special leave facility afforded to pregnant nurses.
Pregnant nurses were earlier granted special leave from work owing to the COVIS-19 situation. Given the current increase in COVID cases throughout the country, the protesters demanded that this leave system be introduced. They also called on health authorities to grant a risk allowance to nurses who are working during the pandemic.
