Postal services have been somewhat curtailed due to the prevailing quarantine curfew. The Postal Department announced yesterday that all post offices and sub-post offices in the country will only function for four working days in a week with offices all post and sub-post offices closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
During days that services are being done, there is still much activity. Our photographer captured these scenes at the Central Mail Exchange in Colombo this morning as postal workers engaged in sorting out not just mail, but medicines that are being delivered via the department to patients.
The Postal Department is using its vehicles to deliver medicines issued from government hospitals for patients directly to their homes.
