A group of political parties sitting independently in Parliament yesterday (4) launched a new alliance titled "Uththara Lanka Sabhagaya" (Supreme Lanka Coalition).
The launch of the new alliance was held at the National Youth Council premises in Maharagama.
Leader of the National Freedom Front (NFF) Wimal Weerawansa was appointed as the new Chairman of the alliance while General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka (CPSL) Dr. G. Weerasinghe was appointed as its Secretary.
