The Thalavila fishermen’s organization and a private recycling organization had carried out a cleaning programme at Thalawila St Anne’s National church.
“The cleaning program had been carried out following the annual church festival, therefore over 600 kilograms of polyline and plastic have been given for recycling,” the president of the Duchway village fishremen’s Association Dinesh Surajan Fernando said.
According to him the amount of plastic and polythene discarded were controlled to some extent as they conducted an education program on environment protection prior to the Annual church festival.
