Long queues have been observed in front of liquor shops across the country even during the lockdown period which is further extended till October 1.
In many instances, those who lined up in front of liquor stores failed to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing masks and social distance.
In North, following complaints lodged by locals, police along with military personnel warned those who violated COVID-19 regulations but the liquor shops remained open to serve customers.
In Puttalam, leading grocery stores in the town remained closed while liquor shops were kept open for business.
