Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka David McKinnon opted for public transport on an official visit to Jaffna.
The High Commissioner and officials took the train to Jaffna due to the present fuel crisis. Discussions were held between the High Commissioner McKinnon and Northern Governor Jeevan Thyagarajah and Jaffna Mayor Visvalingam Manivannan regarding development projects in the North.
It was revealed that a number of development projects have come to a halt due to the current economic situation in the country.
“On the iron road north in Sri Lanka. Far more picturesque (and more pleasant) than driving,” the High Commissioner tweeted on his way to Jaffna. Pix by Romesh Madushanka
