In pictures: Clinical waste pollutes Nagadeepa beach; Indian hospitals suspected

News

The southern beach boundary of Nagadeepa Island is being polluted with hospital waste, fishermen and residents of the area complaints.

These clinical wastes include vaccination needles, saline bottles, blood sampling tools and medicine containers.

The residents believe that the waste is not from hospitals in the Jaffna District, but suspect they are from hospitals in India, dumped in to the northern seas, washed ashore.

Health authorities have already been informed by the area residents.
