The 'Poppy Day' celebration organised by the Sri Lanka Veterans Association was held yesterday (14) at the Ranaviru Memorial at the Vihara Maha Devi Park in Colombo. Retired Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Major General Kamal Gunaratne graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Due to the Corona epidemic, a simple ceremony was held with a limited number of people as per health guidelines and regulations.
Remembrance Day of the heroes of the First and Second World Wars is also known as the 'Armed Forces' Remembrance Day.
