The 135 million rupee Galle Face urban forest park and Beira Lake open restaurant was opened for the public recently. The urban forest park spreads across two acres on the land linking the old Army Headquarters and Galle Face Green (on the revamped Baladaksha Mawatha) and is a joint effort by the Urban Development Authority and the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
