One of the main reasons for the ongoing fuel shortage is partly due to people buying excessive fuel thinking that there would be a shortage in near future, sources from the Ministry of Energy told the Times online
Ministry sources said that already two ships have unloaded diesel and petrol, therefore, there would not be any shortages in near future. They pointed out that even though the fuel is unloading at the port, the fuel stocks in outstation fuel stations are depleting as more people are purchasing more amounts of fuel.
The ministry has also planned to distribute the unloaded diesel and petrol to the fuel stations islandwide.
