Indian Coast Guard ship Vajra called the Port of Colombo last night while assisting the ongoing firefighting efforts to contain the fire on X-Press Pearl.
“ICG Vajra provided 4500 litres of AFFF solution, 450 kg Dry Chemical Powder, and other materials to Sri Lanka Navy in Colombo for strengthening the firefight capability before rejoining the joint operation,” Indian High Commission Colombo issuing a statement on its social media has noted.
Behalf of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Harbor Master Captain Nirmal Silva expressed gratitude for the Indian assistance at this needs of the moment. Sri Lanka Navy also participated in this occasion.
