Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra arrived in Colombo for a two day official on Monday night, officials said.
Mr Kwatra arrived on an Indian Air Force flight and was welcomed by Indian High Commission officials.
The visiting Foreign Secretary is due to discuss arrangements about the proposed visit of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to India, due to take place next week.
Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabry and Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera and the President’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayake is due to accompany the President.
