The Sri Lankan Navy cordially received the Indian Naval Submarine (INS) Shalki when it arrived at the port of Colombo today, August 02, 2024, as part of a ceremonial visit.
INS Shalki is a 64.4-meter-long submarine with a crew of 40, commanded by Commander Rahul Patnaik.
Today, the Commanding Officer of INS Shalki paid a visit to the Commander of the Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters.
Sri Lanka Navy troops would visit the submarine while it is in Colombo to participate in an awareness session about its operational features.
In addition, it is anticipated that the submarine’s crew would visit several of the nation's tourism destinations.
INS Shalki will leave the island on August 4, marking the end of its official visit.
