The Indian Premier was to attend the Jaffna Cultural Centre opening ceremony as the Chief Guest and address the BIMSTEC summit in Colombo scheduled to be held on March 30 in person.
Sri Lanka will most likely host the BIMSTEC summit in hybrid format, and PM Modi is now expected to participate virtually, reliable sources said.
Sri Lankan officials and Indian Embassy have refused to comment and therefore the cancellation of the Indian Premier’s visit is unconfirmed, sources said. (Bandula)
