The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) security personnel today (Mar. 4) arrested an Israeli female who was heading back to her country from Sri Lanka upon discovery of a live 5.56 mm bullet in her luggage.
The suspect has been identified as a 22-year-old who served in the Israeli army. She had traveled to Sri Lanka with her friend for a visit and she had arrived at BIA this morning to board FlyDubai Airlines flight FZ-570.
The live bullet was discovered during the airport’s security check.
The BIA security staff had turned her over with the discovered bullet to the Airport Police this morning.
Further investigations into the incident are being carried out by the BIA’s Airport Police.
The apprehended female along with the live bullet will be brought before the Negombo Magistrate's Court today.
