A suspect named “John Kolla” involved in the Meetiyagoda shooting has been arrested, the Special Task Force (STF) said today (February 14).
The STF investigating a shooting which occurred in Meetiyagoda over a conflict among relatives on February 10, had conducted a raid in Metiwala yesterday and had arrested a local individual referred to by the name of “John Kolla”.
He had remained hidden in a cinnamon garden named Mudalige Watta, where he was arrested with a locally produced gun and two live bullets.
The 36 year old suspect was then handed over to the Meetiyagoda Police for further investigation.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that "John Kolla" is an underworld mobster, responsible for four murders.
The raid was conducted by the STF officers of the Rathgama Camp including the Camp Commander Inspector M. B. M. J. S. Bandara under the supervision of the Hambantota Zonal Commanding Officer Senior Superintendent of Police Vindura Disanayake.
