Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera held discussions with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary to the Treasury, Robert Kaproth on Sri Lanka’s existing energy sector reforms and commitments to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) yesterday (June 5).
The focal point of the discussion laid on the progress Sri Lanka has accomplished during the last twelve months, conflicts of price reforms, balance sheet restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), the proposed new Electricity Act and the necessary assistance to the sector, Minister Wijesekera tweeted.
Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo Doug Sonnek, Director of International Monetary Policy of the U.S. Treasury Jerrod Mason, Treasury Attaché Bill Block, the USAID Chief of Economic Growth in Sri Lanka Chris Powers together with the US Embassy Economic Officer Daniel Moon took part in this discussion.
