The Kandy Esala Perahera will be held without the participation of general public, the Sri Dalada Maligawa announced.
“This is a kind notice by Sri Dalada Maligawa to keep you informed that the Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2021 will be conducted without the participation of general public, considering the current pandemic situation in the country and also as per the recommendation of health authorities. Those who are taking part in the festive will do so under strict hygiene practices,” the Media Bureau of the Sri Dalada Maligawa said.
The historical Dalada Perahera held annually attracts thousands of devotees, tourists and public from all over the country. The first Perahera is to take place on August 13 and final Randoli Perahera to parade on the streets of Kandy on August 22.
