Three persons were killed in lightning strikes in separate incidents.
In one of the incidents a man who was working in a paddy field in Kandiyapita area of Hambegamuwa Police believed to have been struck by lightning died while being admitted to the hospital yesterday (March 23).
The deceased was identified as a 37-year-old resident of Wikiliya in Balangoda area.
The body has been placed at the morgue of the Kalthota Hospital while further investigations are underway by the Hambegamuwa police.
On the same day (23), a couple of Ralapanawa Janapadaya area of Galadivulwewa Police area has been admitted to the Nochchiyagama Hospital after being struck by lightning.
The incident occurred while they were heading to bring back their cattle.
The Police reported the man has passed away after being admitted to the hospital.
The deceased was identified as a 44-year-old resident of Ralapanawa Janapadaya of Nochchiyagama area.
The body has been placed at the morgue of the Nochchiyagama Hospital.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Galadivulaweva police.

Another incident has been reported from the same date (23) in Ulpatha area of the Godakawela Police area where a person was killed in a lightning strike.
He was struck by lightning while standing in a shack built for chena farming.
The deceased has been identified as a 50-year-old resident of Welkeniyaya, Godakawela area.
The body has been placed at the morgue of the Embilipitiya Hospital.
Further investigations will be carried out by the Godakawela Police.
