Commissioner General of Excise Department Saman Jayasinghe has ordered the closure of all licensed liquor stores, on Christmas Day (25).
However, the decision will not apply to hotels with liquor licenses approved by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) for the convenience of tourists.
Meanwhile, the Commission has further mandated the closure of all licensed liquor outlets across the country, including all approved institutions by the SLTDA, on Uduwap full moon poya day which falls on Tuesday (26).
