Over 500 families in the Dematagoda area received the Rs.2000 relief allowance today (25), Colombo’s District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne said.
He said low income families across the district will be eligible for this allowance during the lockdown period.
This week the Cabinet of Ministers approved to pay a Rs. 2000 allowance for families who have lost their livelihood due to the temporary closure of the country and do not receive any other government allowance.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Finance has released provisions to the District Secretaries to be paid to families selected by Divisional Secretaries.
