The Central Committee of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) has decided to adopt a "middle ground approach" without wavering into extremes during a challenging time in the country's political and economic landscape.
The Committee, which met on Wednesday under the leadership of Party Chairman Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, had discussed the current political and economic situation at length. The Committee members had agreed that the MEP had a responsibility to protect the Government in order to fulfill the expectations of the people, a party official said.
The MEP meeting was held at the party headquarters in Maharagama with the participation of Party Deputy Chairman State Minister Sisira Jayakody, Deputy Secretary MPYadamini Gunawardena and other Central Committee members.
