Kandy District MP Gunathilaka Rajapaksha is to seek the help of the Sri Lanka Navy to operate a near 100-year-old lift used for the medical ward for Buddhist monks at the Kandy National Hospital.
The lift installed in the 1940s is operated manually with the help of a heavy rope.
But currently, the rope has been damaged and needs to be replaced.
Mr Rajapaksha said that he hopes to get the help of the Navy which has ropes which could be made use of the particular lift.
Inmates of the Ward are severely inconvenienced due to the malfunctioning of the lift currently.
