The Jaffna Human Rights Office is probing a complaint made by the All Ceylon Tamil Congress Leader MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam claiming the police had acted in a way that harmed his image.
Accordingly, two officers of the Marandankeni Police appeared at the Sri Lanka Human Rights Office in Jaffna yesterday (June 7) to report on the dispute that took place last Friday (June 2) near an examination hall in the East area of Vadamarachchi.
The complaint was filed against the Marandankeni Police at the Human Rights Office stating that they had obstructed the activities of MP Ponnambalam.
However, Jaffna Human Rights Office Regional Coordinator T. Kanakaraj said that the two police officers who turned up at the Human Rights Office returned after a few hours of inquiry and two more police officers are scheduled to come tomorrow (June 9) at 2 pm.
