A 37-year-old man was arrested over the illegal possession of over 2250 illegal pills and cocaine at his shop, police said.
The suspect was arrested by Police Narcotics Bureau officers after information received during a search operation at the Raddoluwa housing scheme.
Police said the suspect had 25g of cocaine with him at the time of the arrest. The suspect was produced before Negombo Magistrate and was ordered to be detained till July 15 for further questioning.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
