A 27 year old man has been arrested for stabbing his mother in law over a pack of dry rations.
Theripehe police in Walapane arrested the suspect who fled after stabbing his wife and mother in law while at the local grama sevaka office following an argument over the issuance of dry rations.
The suspect who has been living separately from his wife has claimed that the pack was issued under his name hence it belonged to him.
Following the stabbing the 50 year old woman has died on admission to the Rikillagaskada hospital while his wife who also sustained stab injuries is currently receiving treatment.
The suspect is to be produced before Walapane Magistrate Court today.
