Police have commenced investigations to arrest a suspect in connection with the shooting of an individual in Bandaraduwa, Ampara last night (6).
Police Media Unit said the 42-year-old victim had been bathing behind his house when the suspect had fired on him and fled.
The victim, a resident of Mayadunna, Weranketagoda, was killed on the spot. His body is currently lying at the scene of the crime pending a magisterial inquiry and post-mortem inquest.
Police said initial investigations have revealed that the motive for the murder had been a dispute over a paddy field.
