Man wanted for murder of wife takes his life

A man wanted over the murder of his wife has taken his own life as the police was searching for him over the crime in the Polpithigama area, police said.

The 33 year old suspect had murdered his wife was on her way to drop their four year old child to school. He had stabbed her with a sharp weapon in front of their daughter.

The victim woman, having lost her parents in childhood, was looked after until marriage by her older brother, who has now agreed to look after the orphaned daughter.
