Mawanella PS Chairman arrested for bribery

The Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya,Sabha, Samantha Steven has been arrested for collecting a bribe of Rs two million today.

Officials attached to the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery Corruption (CIABOC) arrested the chairman while he was accepting the bribe from a businessman in a hotel in Mawanella town.

Preliminary investigations said that the businessman tried to bribe the Chairman to secure approval for a illegal construction building complex in the city. The suspect is to be produced before the Magistarte Court shortly by the officials.
