Police with the help of the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) and the Motor Traffic department has ventured on a programme to minimize pollution caused by vehicles entering the Nuwara Eliya region.
Nuwerliya, considered one of the top most popular tourist destinations among locals as well as foreigners are set to attract more tourists during the coming months with the improvement of travel.
To ensure a cleaner environment the Nuwara Eliya Police, Central Environment Authority and Nuwara Eliya Motor Department jointly conducted vehicle inspection to check whether the vehicles entering the city of Nuwara Eliya have already undergone the vehicle smoke test and to find out how the smoke emission is in those vehicles.
Emission test for vehicles to entering Nuwara Eliya city was conducted and drivers were awareness all.
Along with this, appropriate instructions were also given to correct the defects found in the vehicles.
Chief Inspector of Police Nuwara Eliya Police Station Premalal Hettiarachi and a team of police officers, Central Environment Authority, and Nuwara Eliya Motor Inspector were present this.
