A motorbike mechanic was arrested by the Commission to investigate allegations of Bribery or Corruption on charges of attempting to offer a bribe of Rs. 50,000 to a policeman.
The arrest was made after a sub inspector attached to Bemmulla police lodged a complaint that a motorbike mechanic who was arrested over riding a high powered unlicensed motorbike offered Rs 50,000 to the traffic officer in charge requesting not to take legal action and produce the motorbike to Courts.
The motorbike mechanic who was identified as a resident of Kalagedhena was arrested by the Bribery commission officers while he was attempting the bribe the Traffic OIC of Bemmulla police, they added that the arrest had been made when he was before the OIC’s desk.
The suspect is to be produced before Colombo Magistrate Courts
