Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has instructed the Central Environment Authority (CEA) to immediately investigate the fuel released to the Diyawanna Oya.
Minister Amaraweera has instructed the Director General of the CEA Hemantha Jayasinghe to immediately inquire into reports of a fuel tank floating in Diyawanna Oya.
The Media Unit of the Environment Ministry said the Minister has received a number of photos of layers of fuel floating in the Diyawanna Oya.
“The Minister also instructed to look into whether this act is committed by an individual or institution and swift action is to be taken against those polluting the Diyawanna oya,” the Unit said.
