The Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather forecast report that showers will take place at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Galle, Matara, Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts.
The report further said several spells of showers will take place in Mannar district.
Showers or thundershowers will take place in several places in Uva and Eastern provinces during the evening or night, and heavy falls above 100 mm can be expected at some places in Galle, Matara, Kaluthara and Rathnapura districts.
Fairly heavy falls above 75 mm can be expected at some places in North-Western province and in Colombo, Gampaha, Kegalle, Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts, the weather report added.
Wind speed can increase up to 30-40 kmph at times in Western slopes of the Central hills, Northern, North-Central and North-Western provinces and in Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, it also said.
