More than 300, 000 votes cast at the 2024 presidential election have been rejected. The total of 300, 300 rejected votes represent 2.2% of total votes cast, according to statistics released by the Election Commission.
Of the 17, 140, 354 voters eligible to cast their ballots at yesterday's election, 13, 619, 916 had voted. However, only 13, 319, 616 of these votes were accepted as valid votes. That represents 97.8% of the total votes cast.
The number of rejected votes at this year's election is a significant increase from the 2019 presidential election, where the number of rejected votes was 135, 452, which represented 0.85% of the total votes polled.
