Pushpika De Silva’s title as Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World for 2021 has been denounced due to violation of discipline and ethical standards, said Chandimal Jayasinghe, the National Director-Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World.
Issuing a statement, Mr. Jayasinghe said “the conduct of Mrs. Pushpika De Silva, the title holder of the 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World is in serious violation of discipline and ethical standards expected of a beauty queen or most significantly as an ambassador representing one’s own country in any capacity, whether being local or international.
He further added that if Mrs. De Silva uses her title Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World, it would be a violation of the rules and regulations of Mrs. World Pageant that would result in legal action or a fine.
Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake in a letter of demand this week sought 500 million rupees in damages from Pushpika de Silva over a statement made by Mrs. De Silva in a YouTube interview.
Mrs. De Silva was crowned Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 last year in a controversial event that led to Caroline Jurie stepping down from being the reigning Mrs. World following an on-stage fiasco.
