The National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) has announced new process of directing COVID-19 patients to hospital or treating them at home, based on their conditions, starting from today (19) in the Western Province.
The new process will be operated via SMS messages.
Accordingly, COVID patients are required to SMS their conditions to the hotline 1904.
* The process will use SMS and Over the Phone services.
* COVID-19 patients are required to SMS to 1904 the following information based on their health condition.
(i) Classification of Patients:
01. Patients with breathing issues: A (SPACE)
02. Patients with Fever: B
03. Asymptomatic: C
(ii) Age (SPACE)
(iii) NIC number (SPACE)
(iv) Address (SPACE)
* Details sent via SMS to NOCPCO will be directly forwarded to the relevant treatment centres. Thereafter, based on the condition of the patient, teams will contact patients via telephone number 247 and then direct them to the necessary treatment facility (Ambulance and other treatment facilities will be provided).
Those who are home quarantining will be contacted by a dedicated medical team via 1390.
