The National People’s Power (NPP) recorded convincing victories in all the electoral divisions and postal results announced so far.
Accordingly the NPP have won all seven electorates in which results have been announced. They consists of Jaffna, Balapitiya, Ambalangoda, Ratgama, Galle, Akmeemana, Habaraduwa, Tangalle ,Tissamaharama, Bentra Elpitiya, Baddegama , Matara ,Devinuwara ,Hiniduma , Karandeniya ,Eheliyagoda ,Akuressa, Beliatta ,Nallur, Mulkirigala, Matale, Ratnapura and Minneriya .
The most significant victory was in Jaffna where the NPP won by securing 41. 4 per cent of the vote in contrast to the 8.82 per cent they gained at the Presidential elections in September.
Of the postal vote result too the NPP had won in all the districts where the results have been announced. They are Kalutara, Hambantota, Galle, Monaragala, Colombo, Badulla, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee, Ratnapura, Matara , Polonnaruwa and Puttalam.
