The registrations of Netball Federation of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Judo Association, Scrabble Federation of Sri Lanka, Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka Jiu-jitsu Federation have been temporarily suspended.
The suspension comes in a special gazette issued yesterday (13) by Minister of Sports, Namal Rajapaksa.
The Minister has also appointed Amal Edirisuriya, Director General of the Department of Sports Development, as the competent authority with effect from July 1 this year in respect of administrative and other required proceedings and to call for and hold the relevant elections as well as to perform the activities of the said National Sports Associations/Federations as a temporary procedure.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
