The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the formation of a National Development Committee to evaluate the progress of new government projects and programs.
Accordingly, the former Deputy Treasury Secretary Daya Liyanage will chair the committee.
The previous development projects and programs did not achieve the expected results because they were implemented without proper evaluation, a note on weekly Cabinet decisions taken yesterday said.
Taking this into consideration, President Ranil Wickremesinghe proposed in his budget speech for fiscal year 2023 the formation of a National Development Committee tasked with evaluating new government projects and programs.
In the meeting held on Monday (22), The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal tabled by the Head of State to appoint a National Development Committee to submit its recommendations to the Cabinet regarding the government projects.
