The Education Ministry launched the national streaming hub, a unit set up at the Education Ministry premises to monitor television channels telecasting education programmes.
A team consisting of experts in the field of education will coordinate with television channels and provide subject related education programmes prepared by the National Institute of Education, the Education Ministry said.
The quality of programmes will be monitored by directors appointed for relevant school subjects through this unit while providing solutions for technical errors.
The Eye and Nethra channels of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation are presently telecasting education programmes under the guidance of the Ministry.
However, since the current telecast time is insufficient to telecast all subjects from grade one to grade 13 in Sinhala, Tamil and English, SLT has also agreed to provide several dedicated channels to telecast educational content free of charge through PEO TV.
The Education Ministry also recently launched Vision FM, a radio channel to air education programmes for school children.
