The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 02 suspects who were smuggling about 530kg of Kendu leaves in Kalpitiya.
In the search operation carried out off Periya Arichchal Island, Kalpitiya the Navy detected 16 packages of Kendu leaves together with two suspects and a dinghy boat.
The suspects were identified as residents of the Kalpitiya area aged 30 and 44. The accused along with Kendu leaves and the dinghy will be handed over to the Customs Preventive Office Katunayake for onward legal action.
