Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed Cannabis worth over one million rupees during a special raid conducted at Jayanagar in Kuchchaveli, Trincomalee on Saturday, Navy said.
According to the SLN, three suspects along with 3 kilos and 548 grams of Kerala cannabis were taken into custody and during the raid, the illegal substances were found hidden in a house.
The raid was conducted by the Eastern Naval Command in coordination with the Harbour Police in Trincomalee while adhering to the COVID-19 protocols in force, the SLN sources also confirmed.
The suspects were identified as residents of Kuchchaveli, from 41 to 49 years of age. They were handed over to the Kuchchaveli Police along with the items nabbed for onward legal action, the news added.
